4. FIRST AID MEASURES

INHALATION Remove from exposure and seek medical attention.
SKIN CONTACT Wash off immediately with plenty of water. If spillage occurs on an appreciable area or if irritation develops, seek medical attention. Massage calcium gluconate gel into the burnt area.
EYE CONTACT Immediately wash out with water or isotonic saline solution for at least 10 minutes Seek medical advice.
INGESTION Wash out mouth thoroughly with water. Give water to drink followed by milk of magnesia. Obtain medical attention.

5. FIRE FIGHTING MEASURES

EXTINGUISHING MEDIA Substance is not flammable, use extinguishing media to suit cause of fire.
SPECIAL PRECAUTIONS Keep containers cool by external water spray. Substance will react with steel and many metals producing flammable hydrogen gas.

6. ACCIDENTAL RELEASE MEASURES

METHODS FOR CLEANING UP Neutralise with an excess of slaked lime to form a slurry which can be then washed to drain.
ENVIRONMENTAL PRECAUTIONS Do not allow to get into waste water or waterways.

7. HANDLING & STORAGE

  Store should be cool, shaded, away from sources of heat and incompatibles. Good ventilation is essential. Containers must be upright and tightly closed. Water must be available to drench the area in case of spills. Never transfer the product into anything but plastic containers.

8. EXPOSURE CONTROLS/PERSONAL PROTECTION

PERSONAL PROTECTION Clothing and equipment giving body, eye, foot and hand protection should always be worn, e.g. overalls (not of nylon material) goggles, safety shoes and PVC gloves.
Also calcium gluconate gel, see section 16.
Occupational Exposure LIMITS For hydrogen fluoride UK limit 2.5mg (F)/m³. 3ppm 8hr TWA.

  It is recommended that each operator and handler of Cleaner R should be provided with a tube of calcium gluconate gel. If a spillage on the skin occurs, first aid treatment as directed on the tube should commence immediately.
